My favorite fish is the Sheephead. They make me chuckle when I see them hanging out. I especially like the large males with the goofy teeth. :)

My favorite species is the Masking Crab (which I have previously known as the Decorator Crab) for the same reason rickj likes the Sheephead... they make me laugh! I saw one a few days ago wearing a bright sponge on its head at a jaunty angle like a silly hat, and I laughed out a burst of bubbles!

Kelp Bass: Kelp Bass are interesting characters displaying unusual behaviors compared to other local fish. You can sometimes see them in large numbers clinging to giant kelp facing all in the same direction looking like ornaments on a Christmas tree - looks really pretty I find. If you let them, they'll come up close to your mask taking a good look at themselves. I think they may identify their mirror image as another fish. When the sculptures where on display at the Casino Point dive park they hung out in front of the mirrors gazing at themselves. Makes me wonder what this fish is thinking, feeling, perceiving.
