Please join us for our ever popular Palos Verdes Party surveys!
One of my favorite boat trips of the year, come check out an awesome stretch of coastline and survey four unique dive sites with lots of great animals to see! We are planning to dive and survey the following sites: Christmas Tree Cove, Abalone Cove, Hawthorne Reef and 120 Reef.
We will be going out on the Magician just like last year and I'm excited to spend the day on their boat with their crew! They will keep us well fed, so be sure to let them know of any dietary restrictions when you board the vessel (if it's anything serious please let me know beforehand so we can plan accordingly).
Directions to the boat and parking info can be found here: http://magicianscuba.com/DETAILS:
-Board the boat between 5:45 and 6:15 am
on Saturday June 14th (wow, that's early!); the boat should return by approximately 5-6 pm.
- Breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks are provided (vegetarian options available.)
-Bring your c-card (always a good idea on a boat trip!)
-Bring your own tank!
The boat does not provide tanks (but does have a compressor!)
-Bring all of your survey gear (including calipers!) & all of your dive gear including weights and a tank
-Bring lots of warm clothes, sunscreen and might not be a bad idea to bring your RCCA manual/cards for reference
-If you are inclined to leave a tip for the boat crew, please bring that along as well
-We'll bring plenty of datasheets!
Reef Check is striving to use our resources wisely. To help support the program, it is suggested that RCCA divers on boat charters may help defray the cost of supplies and boat costs by making a $30 donation to Reef Check - but really, any amount helps support the cause if you are able to do so. However, Reef Check will never turn away divers that either can't or choose not to donate. If you are interested, you can donate online by clicking this link: http://www.reefcheck.org/rcca/donate
As we have a lot of work to do in one day, it's very important to have a large team of divers to help accomplish our goals. Don't miss this unique opportunity to dive some amazing sites!
Prepare to get some serious work done and also have a lot of fun exploring this beautiful bit of LA coastline with other Reef Checkers!
