Join us for our fall survey of Coral St!

Coral St., one of my favorite shore diving sites, is located in Pacific Grove, at the intersection of Coral St. and Oceanview Blvd. Park along the side of the road, opposite 1209 Oceanview. Because it's out towards the end of the peninsula, the site has little protection from the prevailing wind and swell, and can get a little bumpy at times, so we'll keep an eye on conditions as we get close to the survey.

But on a good day, Coral St can be stunning! We'll meet up at 8:30 on Saturday Sept. 14; bring 2 tanks, and your survey gear. Note that there are no facilities at the site (nearest public restroom that I know of is at Lover's Pt).

Who's in?

3. Keith R

5. Camilla H
6. Todd T
7. Flower M
8. Kaia C
9. Megan B
10. Jason A (doubtful)

Yes, count me in. I'm certified for Algae and UPC and looking for experience to help become proficient with Invertebrates, and of course Fish.

Bummer! Hope you're itch-free soon!

Thanks for the heads-up.

Hey everyone -

We had a productive day of surveying at Coral St. today - we got all the cores and 3 of the fish-only transects done, which is 3/4 of the full site survey. Viz was 3-4m, a little soupy but fine for survey work. There was typical Coral St. surge, but not so bad as to make things difficult.

We did have one unusual element: Oceanview Blvd was closed for the morning and part of the afternoon for a triathlon, so we had to park on Coral St itself and dodge the bicyclists whizzing by as we crossed Oceanview. My apologies to everyone who came out for forgetting to check on events in the area and not forewarning them of this extra bit of fun.

Anyway, my thanks to Todd, Camilla, Megan B, Flower, Mark, and Kaia. Great work, everyone!

David
