Shore Dives
Sunday August 4, 2013
8:00 am

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Take Palos Verdes Dr. West
Turn right at Via Corta

Turn right at Via Arroyo
We will meet at the parking lot at the corner of Via Arroyo and Paseo Del Mar

GPS: 33.8029789

Malaga is a fun, shallow, shore dive often full of wavy turban snails. For those of you who have not been to the site, be prepared to walk up and down a fairly steep hill to get to the beach. Some people bring wheelies, but most suit up in the parking lot and then walk with all their gear down to the beach.

Bring all your dive gear, two tanks and all survey gear. Don't forget some snacks and water.

Reply to this forum if you'd like to join in the fun so we can add you to the list. As this is a shore dive, we welcome all the Reef Checkers we can get, so come out and join the fun!

Well, its in my backyard, so I guess I better be there! :D I'm assuming you leave your second tank at the parking lot, or do you haul it down the hill and swap-out on the beach? C ya at the gazebo!

Tim, glad you can join the team!

I'm not exactly sure of the logistics regarding tank swap outs for a second dive. Maybe Dirk can chime in. Or perhaps some of the other volunteers will chime in once they sign up.

More details to follow as the date approaches.

I'm in for this one.

The times I've done this site in the past we only did one dive, so I am not sure on the logistics for two.

Hi Everyone:
Colleen is out of town. I doubt she will have the internet resources to add people to the sign ups at this late time.
The Malaga Cove survey is a go for this Sunday 8/4. The Reef Check post has all the information. If you want to participate just show up.
Colleen asked me to coordinate things at the site; I am a volunteer just like you. I will have the data sheets and site information. We will do the customary briefing and go do the Survey.
On the day of the survey, you can call my Cell Phone at 626-862-4660 - Dirk Burcham.
You will need to bring all the necessary survey equipment; none of us have extra equipment to loan.
Just FYI... we will not wait for people who sign up but are not on site by the time we are ready to go to work.
Thanks,
Dirk

Thanks so much for your hard work and dedication, Team Malaga Cove! You guys did an awesome job!

And an extra special thanks to Dirk for running this survey both in the planning stages and at the dive site.

It was a relief knowing you guys had it all under control while I was working in Baja!

Thanks and can't wait to see you on the next survey!
