Im looking for a more full time research opportunity...

Postby Bergovoy » Wed Sep 29, 2010 10:43 am

Hello,

I am recently retired, (51), and looking for a full time oceanic research position.... I am not schooled in marine biology, but have lived in and near oceans most of my life...

I hope there are some research projects out there that are funded, mostly, and could use some help.... I am not looking for pay/salary, and would donate my time without compensation but not willing to pay to do the work... (i dont mind paying for expenses on smaller trips like some of the ones i see listed here), but would hope there are some more full time projects going on somewhere...

I would appreciate any help and suggestions on where to look or go or hang out as needed... I am willing to do anything on the project, including scraping barnacles, or cooking, or cleaning the head....

Anything to be part of and in support of saving our oceans and preserving them for the future generations so they may learn how to use them well/better and or exploit them in a more sustainable fashion... exploit wouldnt be the right term then, huh?

I am a hard worker, and my offer is sincere and i am ready to leave tomorrow...

I appreciate any suggestions and directions that helps me get there from here... :)

HI- I have a website devoted to research diving opps. Check out http://www.BluePlanetDivers.org

It wasn't clear if you are a certified diver or not, but if you are , definitely get involved with Reef Check!

Good luck-

Thank you for the link. I will be reviewing it this weekend, but will be at the Great Shark Affaire also...(still leaning how to do two things at once...)

I was certified, but it was done more then 20 years ago, and I have not had any luck getting a replacement card.. something to do with no computers at the time or something ....I am not that old damnit!!!!

I have no problem in getting re-certified and or continuing my certification program... My intention is to re-devote my time and life to this new direction full time....

I just need/want a little guidance and direction to get me started
