Hi Team,
I've rescheduled Point Joe and Spanish Bay for October 20th and 21st on Phil Sammet's larger boat "the Siren". This boat is super nice and even has a head of sorts. That said this is small-boat diving with back-roll entries, exposed surface conditions, and sometimes challenging diving. This is advanced reefchecking as the goal will be for each team to complete a roughly a core and two fish on each dive. Fish certified divers with a lot of reef check experience will be given priory over less experienced reefcheckers.
I did some "preemptive cleanup" there last week, so you'll only to do four core and all the fish so that a team of six should be able to get it done in two dives. Also interestingly this site appears to have gone from complete barren to complete forest this year! I'm super excited to get this data so we crunch the numbers.
What: Two dives off the "The Siren" in and around the Asilomar MPA
When: 8:00 am both Saturday and Sunday
Where: K dock
What to bring: All dive gear including two tanks, your survey gear, warmth, snacks, and drinks for in between dives.
Who's in?

2. Kris V. (Fish)

Dan, please sign me up for both days. This will be easier for me to do logistically than Sea Ranch. Thanks, Kris V.

Ok: So I can definitely make it that Sunday, if you have a spot free. Yay!

I went out on the Beach Hopper II to Spanish Bay this last weekend and it was weird: The Giant Kelp is not as dominant and there is lots of Bullkelp compared to last year. It seems like a changing site so it would be great to get some data on what is happening here.

If you can't get anyone else I can do Sunday.
If a diver is still needed for Sat I can adjust my schedule.
